Sustainability

At Protean, we understand that value for money and environmental considerations go hand in hand for a sustainable business. We understand that an inappropriate layout leads to compromised flow, reduced productivity and increased energy costs.

Our Principles

  • Reduce - waste, transport and material usage.
  • Reuse - durable flexible solutions that are reconfigurable and reusable, time after time to provide limitless design possibilities. Allowing the environment to change with the business.
  • Recycle - The lightweight aluminium structure is available in 100 per cent recycled billet.
  • The panels are made from 100 per cent recyclable material. At the end of life, the systems are easy to dissemble and separate for recycling or reconditioning.

Save resources, Save waste, Save money

We value our resources and believe that reuse of materials is the most significant area to get true value for money and reduce our impact on the environment.

Find out how to get value for money by becoming resource efficient.

Our Design Philosophy

We have a dedicated environmental team conducting research into new materials and processes, to continually improve our environmental impact. We have a library of materials to choose from and are continually updating and reporting on the new materials available.

Designed around the cradle to cradle philosophy, Reform and Form provide a more sustainable approach focussed on reuse with creative compromise.

"There is a growing movement of researchers and practitioners who are moving away from existing thinking in design for sustainability towards more of a systems approach to problem solving." (Bhamra and Lofthouse 2007)

Reform Benefits

Easy to separate at end of life for recycling - ease of disassembly.

In one year, the Tate gallery has saved 61.4 tonnes of MDF from landfill and over £30,000 in material costs alone.
