Protean Design provides a Lite solution for John Lewis' flagship store
Protean Design has been commissioned to design and develop a quality walling system for John Lewis' flagship store in Cardiff.
Staff at the leading retailer needed a walling system that they could easily install themselves. The walling would be used to seasonally partition different areas of the store while maintaining the quality of the John Lewis brand.
Therefore, it was essential for Protean Design to provide the store with a cost-effective sustainable solution that could be re-used and adapted for each season, thus minimising waste.
To meet these specific requirements, Protean Design developed a bespoke solution with its Lite system, which staff could easily handle and simply install. With the added benefits of lighting and mounting for TV screens, the Lite system has subsequently proved a success when publicising in-store promotions.
Colin Hibbs, Managing Director of Protean Design, said: "All elements of the Lite system provided for the flagship store have been designed to meet its seasonal needs, allowing for an environmentally superior, more cost-effective solution than the construction previously used. It was essential that the system could be easily reconfigured by staff for re-use, without compromise on quality. We are delighted to provide the store with a sustainable solution that meets all their needs."
Martine Dymond, Visual Merchandising Department Manager at the John Lewis store in Cardiff, said: "At the Cardiff store, we used to contract a local carpenter to construct the walling on site from paint finished timber. Once each season had finished, we disposed of the waste and commissioned further walling to be remade. This proved to be expensive and not environmentally friendly.
"With the Lite system, our staff have been able to reconfigure the system themselves to suit the layout of the store and subsequently re-use the walling for each season. Protean Design have delivered a truly sustainable solution without compromise to our brand quality."
Lite is an exhibition display concept, designed in the UK exclusively by Protean Design and available for hire or sale worldwide. Lite is based upon a concept to provide one set of components to meet all three-dimensional marketing needs.
The construction format is based simply upon a node construction, combined with a wide range of accessories and custom elements including literature racks, keyboard shelves, and tables etc. The Lite system provides a lightweight easily transportable comprehensive display solution, which will compete in its flexibility and content with custom design.
